Shunmugam Ramdas and David Wong Chin Huat established
Ramdas & Wong in June 1974. Together, they set up our first
office at International Plaza, with a support staff of 4. Our
office remained at International Plaza for over 17 years, during
which time we grew in size and capability.
In April 2005, we moved to our present office at 36 Robinson Road, City House, where we occupy the 9th & 10th floors of the building.
We have established links with lawyers
in a number of jurisdictions, including England, Hong Kong,
China and countries in South East Asia. We therefore have readily
available a range of foreign lawyers for clients who require
legal assistance overseas.
We are a member of ALFA International, an association comprising
law firms in the USA, Europe, Latin America and the Pacific
Rim.
We are also a member of the International Trademarks Association.
One of our partners handling Intellectual Property Law work
is a member of the International Association for the Protection
of Industrial Property and the Asian Patent Attorneys Association.
We have a comprehensive library, with a full-time
librarian and assistant librarian. Our library has a good collection
of major law reports from Singapore, Malaysia, England and Australia.
We also have a good collection of local and international law
books dealing with all areas of our practice. Our librarians
continuously update and expand our library collection and also
subscribe to a range of journals and magazines on international
law and business.
We also subscribe to the LEXIS/NEXIS service, as well as the
various on-line network services provided by Singapore Network
Services. These include LAWNET, as well as BIZNET and the NEWSLINK
service. Computer technology now allows our lawyers access to
legal material from their desktop terminals.
